Tanned, rested, and ready?
I’ve been trying to work out what sort of framework to give my blogging & social media life now that the new semester’s started up. A quick look over the archives below shows an irregular mix of things, mostly because I’ve always enjoyed fiddling with different platforms & technologies. I’ve also never had the kind of consistency that my wife or my cousin Mary have; each has her own distinctive voice that seems to flow more easily than mine.
Merlin Mann’s crusade against “productivity pr0n” has always been a reproach against my tinkering, but it took the new academic year and Leo Laporte’s Buzz Kill post to kick an idea into gear. This tumblelog is going to be the hub that turns my Twitter and Facebook feeds, (via twitterfeed), whether it’s short-form or long-form content, academic or geeky / social.
One side factor is that I’m a heavy Instapaper user. Anything noteworthy in my feed reader goes straight into Instapaper, and this way I can send it along for comment without missing a beat. Another is that I’m now using the school’s servers for all my classes, so my personal URL is open and I can point it here.
Now to see if it all works!
